Drupal images not showing up in editor

Posted on:

Problem:
After updating Drupal to 7.4.4. I could still upload images, but they would not show up in the editor or on the generated page.

Solution:
After an hour of searching for a solution, this worked for me:

  1. Create a new directory in sites/default
  2. chmod this directory to 755
  3. Copied all files from the "files" directory to the new directory
  4. Changed the path in Configuratrion / media / path settings to the new directory

Speed up OS X Mavericks

This really speeded up my slow OS X Mavericks. It's really worth trying when your OS X is running really slow...

Use these terminal commands to speed up OS X Mavericks

My Mavericks install became more slow and unresponsive by the day. Googling around for solutions I found these terminal commands which should speed up start-up and shutdown isssues. I followed them and my system is as speedy as it was when freshly installed.

Open up your terminal and enter the following commands:

1. sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication ExitTimeOut -int 1
2. sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.diskarbitrationd ExitTimeOut -int 1
3. sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder ExitTimeOut -int 1
4. sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.securityd ExitTimeOut -int 1
5. sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.coreservices.appleevents ExitTimeOut -int 1

You need to vacuum your apple mail database.

  1. Close mail app
  2. Launch "terminal".
  3. Commands:
  4. OS X Mountain Lion
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Ma/MailData/Envelope\ Index vacuum;
    OS X Mavericks:
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope\ Index vacuum;
  5. Enjoy your faster mail!

Linux commands I find hard to remember

Restarting dns server: sudo /etc/init.d/bind9 restart

When animation in Apple finder doesn't work

When Finder for some reason doesn't do the animations like zooming windows you can fix that by entering the following commands in terminal

defaults write com.apple.finder AnimateWindowZoom -bool YES killall Finder

If this doesn't work on it's own, you might have to do this in Terminal to:

defauts write com.apple.finder DisableAllAnimations -bool NO killall Finder

If you want to just do both all at once, to be safe, do this in Terminal:

If you want to just do both all at once, to be safe, do this in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AnimateWindowZoom -bool YES
defaults write com.apple.finder DisableAllAnimations -bool NO
killall Finder

Happy zooming!!
